The Many Benefits of Amethyst

I often find myself looking for something interesting to blog about, then walk away feeling unsure if what I’ve considered will be of interest to my readers. The concept of doing a series of blogs closely related to one of my passions, crystals, was born during one of those musings. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of crystals out there, so what better way to decide which crystal to write about each month than to write about the crystal connected to that month’s birthstone?

Each month I will provide some information on the stone or crystal that represents that month, and maybe even create a meditation (you can sign up for my Monthly Meditation Club by clicking here) to go along with the properties of the stone being highlighted. What do you think? Would you read about the benefits of crystals? If so, then read on as I start the series with February and the beautifully purple hued Amethyst.

The Healing Power of Amethyst

Amethyst sphere with Cacoxenite inclusion

Amethyst is a powerful healing crystal and is a stone that I often use in both my Reiki and crystal healing sessions. Hypnosis clients will often find an Amethyst sphere or point on the table beside their chair, sharing its calming energy with them as they sink into a deeply relaxed trance.

Among other things, this stunning purple crystal has been used for centuries to promote spiritual growth and emotional well-being. It is believed to have numerous benefits, including enhancing intuition, calming the mind, and helping release negative energy.

Amethyst is connected to the third eye and crown chakras which are associated with intuition and spiritual connection. Because of this association, one of the most notable benefits of Amethyst is its ability to enhance one’s intuition and spiritual awareness. By working with Amethyst, one can tap into their inner wisdom and gain a deeper understanding of the true self as well as one’s life purpose.

Amethyst also has a calming effect on the mind (one of the many reasons it can often be found on the table beside my client chair). This can be particularly beneficial for those who suffer with stress and anxiety. The energy of Amethyst is said to help balance the mind and promote a sense of peace and tranquility.

Another important benefit of Amethyst is its ability to help release negative energy (I’ll get into energy in another blog post soon, then add the link here) due to its powerful purifying effect. It can help clear old stuck energy, clearing anger, fear, resentment, and other low vibrational emotions. Working with Amethyst can help one let go of the past and move forward with a sense of peace and optimism.

Amethyst also has many healing benefits on the physical body. It can help support the immune system, cellular disorders as well as balancing the crown chakra to help with hormone imbalances and physical ailments. Placing an Amethyst on the crown or third eye chakra, can help balance one’s energy and bring the body into a state of optimal health. Needless to say, working with crystals and energy should only be used to enhance any medical treatments you are receiving and never be used as a replacement.

Tapping into Amethyst Energy

If you are wondering how you can tap into the wonderful energy of Amethyst, many people choose to wear jewelry, or to carry a small Amethyst crystal with them. Amethyst placed in one’s environment in the form of geodes or clusters, can help purify the atmosphere and promote a sense of calm. It can also be used in meditation and, as mentioned earlier, in energy healing practices.
